The club runs out of a local community centre, and from the very first day, I was made to feel welcome. Tanveer, the assistant coach with years of Muay Thai experience, was the first to greet me. He introduced me to Shah, the head coach, a professional MMA fighter with a solid BJJ background and currently a purple belt.
At first, I just wanted to train Muay Thai. I never really enjoyed watching grappling before, and had a bad experience with it where I was left on the ground and no one explained what was going on. But here, Tanveer took the time to show me what to do, and that made all the difference. No egos, just proper teaching and a solid vibe.
After just 3 months of training, I ended up doing my first ever grappling competition. I still can't believe it! That's down to the energy and support from Shah and Tanveer. They gave me a second breath.
Shah is an amazing coach. He explains things clearly, breaks it down with real passion, and always makes time for questions. What really stood out for me is that he openly says he's still learning too. That's real humility right there, and it sets the tone for the whole club.
